Anyone for a drink?
As Head of Licensing, I regularly deal with Licensing Applications and matters related thereto.Nonetheless, when our Marketing Guru suggested that I undergo the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) Course to obtain a National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders I was apprehensive, particularly as this involved sitting an exam!
Having researched the various course options on the internet, I attended a very good course, run (rather fittingly) in a function room at a London pub. Most of the other attendees were either pub or restaurant owners or Managers. The course was very intensive and included a lot of detailed information set out in the Licensing Act 2003. Following a brief recap in the afternoon, we sat a multiple choice exam. I am pleased to report that I passed the exam which enables me to apply for a Personal Licence.
The BII Awarding Body qualifications are recognised throughout the Licensing Industry and I frequently advise my client's to undertake a course with a view to obtaining a BII qualification. Attending the course has definitely given me an insight and understanding of the course requirements which can only be a good thing when advising a client who intends to obtain a Personal Licence.
