Hamptons International Open Evening

18th June 2009 by: Gerry Wigfield
Graham Honey, Anjou Kataria and myself enjoyed a very pleasant Open Evening for potential clients and property professionals at Hamptons International's Clapham Common offices, warmly hosted by Associate Director Fenella Russell-Smith and her team.

It was encouraging to speak to senior negotiators Rosalind Watson and Russell Myers about the perceived optimism in the residential market.

There would still appear to be a shortage of "Stock" but with lenders slowly gaining in confidence and the realisation in some sectors of the market that the time to invest really might be now, we all hope that this third quarter shows an upward trend.

Caroline Dude, manager of Residential Lettings also spoke of an increase in new instructions........the expectation being that this sector will continue to be busy for at least another three to four months, by which time sales hopefully will have demonstrated substantial signs of recovery.

Given the international flavour of our respective firms, it wasn't long before discussion turned to the overseas investment market.

Angela Man, Hampton's International Project Manager detailed the exciting opportunities Hamptons have created this summer to highlight  their products in India, Morocco, Italy and the UAE.

A number of high profile events are planned, including the Luxury Gulf Fair 25th -27th July at the Intercontinental Hotel where Hamptons will be showcasing what many would consider some of the most sought after properties in London's prime locations.

In addition, private consultations will be afforded to a number of potential Middle Eastern buyers in Hamptons head office in Mayfair.

Seddons extensive property expertise, history of providing expert, bespoke private tax planning and trust advice, and the confidence in the practice born of long association by our many overseas clients will, we hope, prove invaluable in consolidating a number of  transactions in the coming months in conjunction with this energetic marketing initiative.

The evening was relaxed and fun. As hoped, a number of local residents and potential applicants called in for a glass of wine and a chat. With the common bathed in evening  sunlight the office presented a welcome pit-stop for committed and inquisitive commuters alike after what had been a very hot day.

Graham, Anjou and myself, with the varying disciplines of Tax & Trust Planning, Leasehold Enfranchisement and Residential Conveyancing, were happy to field questions, clarify issues and hopefully present the positive aspects of Seddons involvement in potential clients projects.

There are not unfounded reasons for optimism out there, and we look forward to collaborating with anyone who wishes to help us explore more of them.
