History and Values
Seddons started officially in 1993 - when we had 10 partners - but its roots go back to when our present managing partner, Robin Austin, completed his articles (training contract) with Roscoe Phillips in 1966. Roscoe Phillips then merged with Woolf Seddon in 1988 and other firms joined in 1990 and 1994.
Values
Our professional values focus on technical excellence in legal knowledge, responsive services and enduring relationships with our clients.
Investing in the development of our own people, we take on three trainees each year and support their development. During recent years we have encouraged growth from within the firm and promoted young lawyers to Associate and to partnership status.
Unlike some London firms, we do believe that there should be a work-life balance and we encourage all members of the firm to devote sufficient time to their families, their health and their outside interests.
We also share a deep commitment to charitable and community causes - with many staff making great personal contributions both in their own time and through work activities such as our annual charity quiz for local businesses. This is described further in the community and corporate social responsibility section.
Management
Whilst the firm is a true partnership, with all 18 partners remaining involved in strategic decisions, there is a management board managing the running of the practice on a day-to-day basis. The Board comprises Robin Austin as our managing partner, Simon Ross who takes responsibility for finance, Marvin Simons (head of litigation) and Andrew Jacobs (head of property).
