Deborah is the founder and head of our Family Department at Seddons. She has specialised in family law throughout her career, with the majority of her work being complex financial disputes within divorce.
Deborah acts for clients from many different backgrounds, including those in the media and entertainment world.
She is known for handling the most intricate of financial disputes, often with offshore trust structures and difficult tax issues. Clients describe her as “meticulous” and having the utmost insight of what they are experiencing in relationship breakdown. Deborah has earned a reputation of understanding the psychological impact of divorce and regularly works with psychologists and counsellors to ensure clients and children come through the separation process in the healthiest way possible.
Deborah also has considerable experience in children matters, handling issues such as contact, residence, child abduction and blood testing to ascertain paternity of a child.
Deborah has written for The Times and has also been quoted in other national newspapers and family law publications.
Deborah is also a trained collaborative lawyer.
• Financial settlement for a wife after a 35 year marriage and assets of £53 million divided between 5 jurisdictions.
• A cohabitation dispute after a short relationship between a wealthy media client and a lady who unsuccessfully claimed half of his property.
• OS -V- DS (2004) (oral disclosure, preliminary hearing), acted for husband.
• Complex children case where 3 of the 4 children had been fathered by the husband’s father during years of abusing the wife.
• Acted for wife in London divorce proceedings and financial settlement after a long marriage and where there had been separation proceedings 13 years previously in France with partial financial settlement in such proceedings.
