Further and Higher Education Employment Seminar - 2 July 2009
On 2 July 2009 Seddons Education Department will be holding a seminar on employment law issues in Higher and Further Education.
The seminar, entitled "Grasping the Nettle", will address practical legal issues of particular concern to senior managers in the Higher and Further Education sectors. The focus will be on identifying pragmatic approaches to achieving a flexible workforce within the particular constraints of public sector regulation and staff resistance often experienced in these sectors.
The seminar will be chaired by David Palfreyman, Director of the Oxford Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies and co-author of The Law of Higher Education (OUP 2006).

- Tony Hows, consultant solicitor at Seddons with over 30 years experience. Tony has been involved in the introduction of a new academic contract in a major new university and has acted extensively for employers, employees and trade unions.
- Oliver Hyams, leading Employment and Education barrister, and Chair of the Education Law Association. Oliver has an extensive education practice and has appeared in a number of leading cases including representing the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education in the Court of Appeal.
