Training at Seddons

At Seddons we aim to give you varied and hands-on training in a supportive environment, ensuring that your legal knowledge, confidence and skills develop as you complete each seat.

We aim to guide you as smoothly as possible through the transition from academic lawyer to professional practitioner, encouraging the development of your individual talents along the way. At the conclusion of your training contract, you will be familiar and confident with all aspects of what it takes to work in a professional modern practice.

We are not looking for Trainee Solicitors, but future partners to deliver our vision to be the first choice law firm in the West End. Wherever possible we strive to retain trainees following qualification, although decisions are made according to business needs.

We usually offer up to two trainee opportunities each training year. 

During the Training Contract

The training contract is typically split into four separate seats of six months duration. Most recently, we have offered seats in: Corporate; Dispute Resolution; Employment; Family; Private Client and Property but these seats are subject to change from time to time. Where possible, we try to accommodate individual requests to work within a particular department.

In addition to the practical experience gained in each seat, you will sit the external Professional Skills Courses to meet the requirements of the SRA for Trainee Solicitors.

Candidate Criteria & How to Apply

We will shortly open the recruitment process for the Trainee Solicitor intake for October 2017. At present we are not accepting applications. Please return to our website in November when full application details will be published.
