Unmarried woman wins pension battle
9th February 2017
Family Partner, Toby Hales, was interviewed on LBC by Sheila Fogarty on Wednesday 8 February. He discussed a recent news story whereby a woman in Northern Ireland has won her Supreme Court case to secure payments from her late partner's pension. The couple were unmarried but cohabiting and had been together for 10 years when he died.
During the interview, Toby raises the question, if the law should provide precisely the same protection to couples after a cohabitation relationship breaks down as it does to couples after a marriage breaks down. Click here to listen to Toby's full interview.
