    Charles Goldblatt Discusses Bilateral Investment Treaties in Law360


    Charles Goldblatt, Dispute Resolution Solicitor, discusses a CJEU ruling which found an arbitration clause was incompatible with EU law.

    Writing in Law360, Charles Goldblatt discusses a ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union in March 2018, which judged an arbitration clause in a bilateral investment treaty (BIT) between two member states was incompatible with EU law. 

    In the article, Charles considers the prevalence and goal of BITs, and the significance and likely impact of this ruling which casts doubt on the legitimacy of the almost 200 BITs currently in force between EU member states.
