Head of Family Deborah Jeff's comments on the Supreme Court's bereavement ruling appeared in both The Times and The Daily Telegraph.
The Supreme Court ruled in favour of an unmarried woman who had been denied widow bereavement benefits. Pointing out that 3 million couples have chosen to reside together unmarried, Deborah described the Supreme Court ruling as a “victorious step in the right direction, ensuring that unmarried families are no longer financially penalised and discriminated against for their very personal decision of how to conduct their relationship”.
