Head of Employment Helen Crossland was quoted regarding the Government's Good Work Plan response to the Taylor Review
Head of Employment, Helen Crossland, was quoted in Real Business in response to the Good Work Plan, a document published by the Government following the high-profile Taylor Review of working practices published in July 2017. In the plan, the Government promised an overhaul of employment rights to improve conditions for millions of workers, including those in the gig economy.
Helen commented on the commitments made by the Government to bring employment law in line with modern working practices, noting that the measures announced yesterday were, "in reality, rather hollow."
She observed they only relate to gig economy workers rather than workers generally, covering holiday and sickness entitlements, and concluded that "despite the headlines nothing has actually happened yet.”
