Number of civil partnerships continue to rise

The ONS statistics on civil partnerships in England and Wales for 2018 have been released and unveiled an increase of 5.3% in civil partnerships. The statistics also revealed that nearly two-thirds of all civil partnerships formed in 2018 were between men.
Family Partner Neil Russell highlighted that this growth in civil partnerships suggests “same sex marriages are not as popular. In turn, this leads to the biggest question as to whether there should be civil partnerships for opposite sex couples?”
