    Points-based immigration: five things employers can do now

    Immigration Partner Ahmed Ajina comments in Personnel Today on the newly published details of the proposed points-based immigration system that will take effect from 1 January 2021. 

    Ahmed explains that an advisable course of action is to look into whether current EU staff members have already applied for pre-settled or settled status. Pre-settled or settled status will allow EU nationals to continue to reside and work in the UK from 1 January 2021, and they have until 31 December 2020 to obtain this status.

    Ahmed states, “It would be good practice for employers to ensure that there is an internal or external support system to assist their EU staff who have still not applied for pre-settled or settled status.”
